Gloria Carter was honored in New York City on Wednesdy for overseeing the Shawn Carter Scholarship Fund.

The scholarship fund mentors students and helps disadvantaged youth with college tuition. Queens Councilman Thomas White Jr. sponsored the ceremony at City Hall, where the award for “Outstanding Contributions from the Community” was presented to the hip-hop mom.
