Police say the former fiance of The Real Housewives of Atlanta’s Kandi Burruss died following a fight outside an Atlanta strip club on Friday night.

Atlanta police spokesman Officer James Polite says Ashley “A.J.” Jewell died from the massive head injuries he received during the Friday night fight in the parking lot of the Body Tap Club. Police — who are unsure what caused the fight – say Jewell worked at the club.

Jewell was engaged to Housewives cast member Kandi Burruss until August. He appeared in several episodes of the hit reality show, which follows socialites in metro Atlanta, and was often featured sparring with Kandi’s disapproving mom.

Investigators are interviewing a “person of interest” in the murder.

“I could never in a million years imagine this happening. Please pray for A.J.’s children … that’s who i’m the most concerned for. I’m about to give my swollen eyes some rest now. I just wanted to say thanks two everyone for their prayers.”
