Detroit Mayor Kwame M. Kilpatrick has accepted a deal from prosecutor in his Sex Scandal/Perjury Scandal. Under the terms of the plea bargain, in exchange for a guilty plea to two felony counts of obstruction of justice, Kilpatrick will be ordered to pay $1 million in restitution to Detroit, spend 120 days in county jail, and surrender law license and state pension.

“He understands fully the agreement and agrees to be bound by it,” the mayor’s attorney Gerald Evelyn said in court on Thursday.

The charges stem from the mayor’s extramartial affair with former chief of staff Christine Beatty. Kwame Kilpatric admitted this morning that he “lied under oath” in the case that involved him getting two officers fired for investigating wrongdoing by his staff. The relationship was discovered when over 4,000 exchanged text messages were leaked to the press last year.

Making history as the youngest mayor of Detroit, Kilpatrick was dubbed “America’s Hip-Hop Mayor” by Russell Simmons in 2003.

Kwame Kilpatrick is resign from office sometime in the next two weeks, his sentencin is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, October 28.
