Hip-hop star Lil Mama has issued a statement apologizing for her tomfoolish behavior at last night’s 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.

The New York native and America’s Next Dance Crew judge raised eyebrows after she went full retard (no offense), storming on-stage and elbowing her way into the mix as Jay-Z and Alicia Keys performed “Empire State of Mind.”

A representative for Jay-Z has issued a statement stating they had “no clue how” Lil Mama ended up on stage during the rapper’s highlight appearance.

“I did not mean any disrespect towards Jay-Z or Alicia Keys,” the “Lip Gloss” hitmaker said in a statement to MTV on Monday. “I admire them and look up to them as role models. ‘Empire State of Mind’ had my *~*~emotions running high~*~*. In that moment I came up onstage to celebrate my two icons singing about NY.”

Lil Mama’s rep said she may have more to say about the situation later.

Brooklyn-bred MC Fabolous sure has plenty to say.

Rapper Fabolous created a new “hash tag” on Twitter named #lilmamais, which has quickly become a trending topic making fun Lil Mama.

“#lilmamais fresh off hangin out wit Maia Campbell,” the rapper Tweeted Monday, making reference to the mentally-ill actress best known for her role on the ’90s sitcom In The House.
