Los Angeles Protests R. Kelly ‘Double Up’ At The Forum

R Kelly’s Double Up will perform at The Forum in Los Angeles on Friday despite plans from protesters to descend on the church-owned facility with lighted candles. Protesters want to know what’s behind the church-owned venue’s support of an artist currently facing trial on child pornography charges.

The Forum is located in Inglewood, CA. It is the former home of the Los Angeles Lakers and is currently owned by Bishop Kenneth C. Ulmer Faithful Central Church.

“R. Kelly is currently facing 14 federal counts of child molestation. Why is the church not giving aid and comfort to the victims of sexual assaults?” asks activist Najee Ali of Project Islamic HOPE in a statement.

“How can the church allow R. Kelly to perform on Friday night, have service on Sunday morning and believe all is well?” Ali continues. “The message the church is sending to young children is that money is more important than taking a stand in support of victims who have been victimized by R. Kelly and other child molesters.”
