Tyler Perry’s Madea Goes to Jail dominated the weekend box office, debuting with $41.1 million, and smashing Perry’s previous opening record of $30 million for 2005′s Diary of a Mad Black Woman.

Madea is the highest grossing film ever for both Perry and the biggest box office hit in Lionsgate Studio’s fourteen year history.
