Michelle Obama’s inaugural ball gown was ugly. If she had taken a scissors out and cut off that stupid single strap, she’d have done the world a favor.
Wu is a sad designer if this is what he puts out there for the first lady to showcase his work. Bjork had been done. Swan anyone?

Not her usual professional style but as they have a “modern” fairytale marriage and President Obama is our night in shining armour, it is appropriate that she would wear a fluffy, princess gown in which she looked stunning, as usual.

Please correct my comment, I meant to say “knight” in shining armour!

I dont think it was the best of gowns for the night. The one arm didnt do it for me. looking fronm her taste of clothes.Ithink she could have done better than that. She tried too hard to get a dress for the night as a result ended up with something complicated but not very nice.A simple gown would have done it.

It was the perfect choice for our new First Lady. Sophisticated and regal, yet with an appealing simplicity. She wore the dress, it did not wear her. The dress complimented her, but never took the attention away from her beautiful smile. Mrs. Obama is so naturally striking and statuesque that she doesn’t need to be wearing a lot of glitter.

This was the most unattractive gown ever worn by a first lady. What a shame that a woman who could have looked elegant, looked like she was wearing a cotton sundress. What a wasted opportunity.

The top of the gown looked like toilet paper, and overall the dress might have been ok for a 17 yr old to wear to a prom, but certainly not elegant enough for a First Lady.
Michelle has very poor taste in clothes, and hair!

Mrs. Obama’s ball gown looked like my grandmother’s bedspread. I would describe it as hideous.

Horribly made! I think she has THE worst taste in clothes of ANY First Lady!!! She needs to get a new stylist. Michele is not that beautiful and needs all the help she can get. NEVER compare her to Jackie Kennedy! Even Hillary Clinton looks better than Michele Obama!

Wilma Flintstone called…she wants her dress back! Michelle Obama has made some major fashion mistakes. That green ensemble with the ugly brooch and lets not forget that frightening red and black frock! Spider lady. Yikes! Jackie Kennedy’s “most fashionable First Lady” title remains firmly in place.

It looks like she’s either doing a bad attempt at a mummy for Halloween or doing the bridal shower game where you make a wedding dress out of rolls of toilet paper.

The dress was not what we have come to expect from Michelle Obama. She is a classic, traditional dresser, and the gown she wore did not fit her style. She has a casual elegance and this frilly dress is not her style. She did not look confortable in wearing it! I look forward to seeing her return to her natural, causal elegance.

Only geeks would’ve even worn that to the prom! Just hideous. . . Michelle is too big to pull off a frilly little frock like that!

With everyone expecting fabulous, Mrs. Obama amazingly disappointed. She succeeded in totally missing the mark with the ball gown and inaugration day dress. Looked like emsembles from the Lucy Show.
Defending “awful” encourages more of the same.
The ball gown completely excentuated her small breasts and looked like a hand-me-down from her grandmothers “hope chest” . How appropiate.
Must be a case of the Empress has no clothes. Everyone is afraid to tell Michelle the truth. That’s pitiful.

Michelle Obama’s gown was the ugliest gown I have ever seen. It looked like a limp rag and she looked hideous in it. The one strap was horrible.
Between the Inaugural gown and that horrible red and black dress she wore at the acceptance speech, the woman needs help with fashion. Someone at the White House, please help our first lady with her wardrobe. She is a pretty lady and need some fashion sence.

So disappointing! I think Michelle is a beautiful woman, and I had really been looking forward to seeing her gown. I agree with the comments posted (i.e. cotton sundress, bedspread, horrible strap, etc.), but I have another observation to make. Why would she choose a dress with a train when she knew she would have the eyes of the world on her as she danced all night? The dress was clearly too long, and she had to keep pulling it out of her way. I’m amazed that Barack didn’t trip on it and send them both crashing down.

I think she should have done her hair up more and either worn no straps or a light veil like material draped around her shoulders and fastened with her brooch. Anyone get my picture, she would have looked younger.

I thought her ball gown was very pretty. I think it would have been absolutely georgous without the shoulder strap thing though.
She did herself proud by wearing that soft flowing dress, she appears to be such an angry woman, and the dress softened her.
Her choice of clothes is really bad, like the horrid black and red thing that looked like she murdered someone, and then that yellow couch cover looking mess.
I feel for her and wish she didn’t come off as being so very mad all the time.

What an ugly, fugly dress. She has no style and she should never wear anything that clings to her ASS.
