Mo’Nique is grieving the loss of Maureen Allaben, a set decorator for The Mo’Nique Show and an Atlanta-area food stylist who was murdered by her abusive husband over the weekend.

“We are all saddened by Maureen’s passing, but we also rejoice in having had the opportunity to know her sweet, soulful spirit. Live each day to the fullest,” Mo’Nique told The Insider on Thursday.

Allaben, 43. was killed by her husband last Sunday, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Wednesday. According to the paper, Dennis Allaben turned himself in to Atlanta police on Tuesday after reportedly driving around for two days with his wife’s body in the bed of his pickup truck.

Dekalb County Police say Allaben drove from Tucker, Georgia to Virginia and dropped of his children with relatives. He told relatives about the murder before returning to Atlanta and turning himself in.

Allaben, 46, is currently in custody and charged with murder.
