MTV is developing a new reality series centered around high school students in Brooklyn.

Open casting calls have been scheduled at Brooklyn Technical High School in Fort Greene for students interested in taking part in “Brooklyn,” a series chronicling the lives of average high school students in the thriving borough.

“If a student agrees to be filmed it would be separate from the school,” said Marge Feinberg, an Education Department spokeswoman.

Brooklyn borough President Marty Markowitz was incredibly excited over MTV’s interest in the “city within the city:”

“From Heath and Michelle to U2 to the Nets … everybody knows that Brooklyn is the bomb,” Markowitz said.

this sounds highly exciting to me. being from broolykn myself i know that the city inside the city qoute describes my borough perfectly i just hope that they pick diverse highschools like boys and girls high school and brooklyn tech and many other magnet high schools as well as schools like bushwick high school to show slow change, so that different parts of the borough are represented. there is so much in brooklyn the grity streets ,beutiful art and many musuems the fashion the food……the people…i hope they go beyond the stereotpy. becase there is so much broklyn has to offer through visial and culture standpoints…the history of this one borough is so deep and rich i can only hope they do it justice which sadly i doubt they will.
