WELL MY KIDNEYS HAVE BEEN FAILING FOR 13 YEARS AND NOW THEY FINALLY WENT. IM ON DAILY DIALYSIS . I DO IT AT HOME. ITS EASIER ON MY BODY THEN THE BIG MACHINES. WOULD LIKE TO SEE A FOLLOW UP SHOW ABOUT ALL OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAS BEEN WAITING ON LISTS FOR YEARS. IM FACING AT LEAST A 6 YEAR WAITING LIST . IM ON 3 LISTS. I HAVE 0+ BLOOD WHICH ISNT EASY TO MATCH.I AM 47 YEARS OLD WITH A HUSBAND WHO HAS MULITPLE SCLOROSIS AND 3 CHILDREN,, TWO GROWN AND ONE SON WHO IS 15 YEARS OF AGE WHO HAS ASPERGER SYDROME WHICH IS A PART OF AUTISM..I FEEL ALL THOSE PEOPLE WHO CAME FOURTH TO DONATE A KIDNEY WOULD HELP SO MANY IF THEY REALLY WOULD DONATE EVEN THOUGH WE DONT HAVE CELEBRITY STATUS OR MONEY. MY HUSBAND AND I ARE ON SSD AND THATS ALL WE LIVE ON. OH, MY KIDNEYS WENT WHEN I CONTRACTED TOXIC SHOCK AND SEPTIC SHOCK FROM A TOOTH EXTRACTION. I have been on dialysis for 6 years and will be getting a kidney this summer. BUT...this is all well and good, everyone jumping on the band wagon and offering a kidney to Natalie. I hoipe that they realize this is a total commitment that is giving hope to a person who is tethered to a machine at lest twelve hours a week, in order to live. These offers cannot be empty but truely meant. I have had 8 people tell me they would do this and then back down...all sought me out. And,guess what, even if these people do not match Natalie, then donate to someone else. This is a gift of life. Every day 17 people die waiting on a kidney. My husband has been on dialysis 3 times a week for over ten years. He was never a candidate for a transplant but other people are. We need to help them as well.
