Queen Latifah will be releasing a new jazz and blue CD entitled ‘Trav’lin Light on on Septermber 25th.
According to Black Voices:
Produced by three-time Grammy winner Tommy LiPuma and by Geffen Records chairman Ron Fair, ‘Light’ is a concept project that has Latifah embracing a sultry and saucy mix of fabled female vocalists who’ve inspired her. Songs popularized by Peggy Lee, Etta James, Sarah Vaughn, Nina Simone, Shirley Horn, Carmen McRae, Roberta Flack, Mary Wells, Phoebe Snow, and more, will get the Latifah treatment.
And the songbook isn’t the only impressive aspect of ‘Light.’ Its collaborations include neo-soul divas Jill Scott and Erykah Badu, piano and keyboard pioneers George Duke and Joe Sample and bass virtuoso Christian McBride.
The one and only Stevie Wonder even guests on a track, while 15-time Grammy Award winning engineer Al Schmitt brings it all together.
That was a kickass article. What do I do now?
