The father of R&B star Rihanna has criticized the American justice system after the star’s former boyfriend Chris Brown was handed a “light” sentence for assaulting her earlier this year.

Earlier this month, Brown was sentenced to six months community service, domestic violece, and five years probation after pleading guilty to charges of felony assault and making criminal threats following his attack on Rihanna last February.

Rihanna’s father, Ronald Fenty, is furious that the Grammy-nominated crooner wasn’t tossed in jail over the attack.

“He should be in jail. Chris should have been sent to jail for what he did to my girl. He’s got off lightly. Chris put her through hell.”
