Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor has died one day after being shot in his Florida home.

Sean was in critical condition but showing some positive signs Monday night after surgery for a gunshot wound to his leg during what police are investigating as a possible armed robbery at his home.

Taylor had responded to doctors’ requests to squeeze his hand and make facial expressions, Redskins vice president of football operations Vinny Cerrato said. Taylor never regained consciousness after arriving at the hospital.
