A little late with this one, but a rumor hit the Internet, and certain radio stations, on Thursday proclaiming that one-time popular comedian Sinbad had died last weekend of a heart attack. Sinbad is actually alive and well, but since his only gig at the moment is filming a flick entitled “Cuttin Da Mustard,” his once vibrant career is another story.
Mark Adkins-Sin’s brother/manager spoke with EUR about the death rumor that spread like wildfire after being passed on unchecked:
“That was a vicious rumor, I don’t know where it came from, but it started last weekend,” Mark, the head of a promotions company in Los Angeles, told Bailey on the phone Thursday afternoon. “It just started circulating around the country, and today I got more calls than any.”

“On Saturday I started getting a lot of comedians calling me saying that they heard Sinbad had passed away,” Mark continued. “Then it had died down for a couple of days and we thought it was just a little local rumor, but then it went across the country. I got calls from Detroit and New York, radio stations calling. I guess there’s some sort of obituary or something on the e-mail blast that made it seem real.”
The former star of “A Different World” spoke with EUR and the cast of the Steve Harvey Morning on Friday about Thursday’s rumor:

This could actually be good for Sin’s career. After all, you’re nobody till somebody kills you….online.

You bet it’s going to be good for Sin’s career. Here’s another take on that point:
