O.J. Simpson’s supporters are asking the public to donate money to fund an appeal to pay for legal aid as the incarcerated star fights his robbery and kidnapping convictions.

The Society Against Legal Injustice created the website because it believes the case was mishandled, according to CNN.com. The Society says its goal is “to educate, promote and advocate against judicial discrimination.”

In December, the football legend turned accused killer was sentence to a maximum of 33 years for his role in an armed confrontation with sports memorabilia dealers in a hotel in 2007, and he’ll be eligible for parole in nine years. The group estimates that an appeal would cost $1 million.

Simpson argued in court he was attempting to reclaim stolen memorabilia during the raid, he claims he was unfairly convicted.

The site claims Simpson was unfairly targetted because of his acquittalfor the 1994 murders of his ex-wife Nicole Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman.

“The unfairness levied against O.J. Simpson in Las Vegas is something no citizen deserves,” the group insists. “O.J. Simpson is not a wealthy man anymore and is therefore largely at the mercy of the Las Vegas legal system.”
