At 28 years of age Grammy Award-winning rapper T.I. voted for the very first time in McDonough, Georgia on Wednesday.

T.I. originally thought his voting privileges were revoked as a convicted felon, until he researched and learned that under a Georgia law felons are eligible if they’re not currently serving probation or a prison sentence.

T.I. will begin serving his federal prison sentence on firearms charges in March.

“Feels like I’ve taken advantage of my right to become a part of the democracy,” said T.I., who has been appearing recently with voter education groups in Georgia and Pennsylvania. “It was definitely worth standing in line and doing all the things people complain about voting. I think it’s more than worth it.”
