Universal Music Group Wants $15,000 From Rev. Al Sharpton?

Celebrity snitches are whispering about bad blood between Rev. Al Sharpton and Def Jam’s parent company Universal Music Group. Universal Music Group has demanded that its $15,000 donation to one of the Rev’s National Action Conference dinner, which would have honored record ex L.A Reid, be returned ASAP, according to New York tattles.
Rev. Al was labeled a hypocrite for failing to show the same relentless ire toward record companies that house rappers who use the same offensive term to describe women.
On Wednesday, Al decided to cancel plans for his conference to honor L.A. Reid, whose label distributes a number of rappers who use “ho” in their lyrics - including Ludacris (who boasts in one song that he has them in different area codes).
“It’s absolutely not true,” said a spokesman for Universal Music Group. “We didn’t ask for [our money] back.”

Russell Simmons didn’t purchase his anticipated two tables at the National Action Network dinner on Wednesday night, according to tattles in NYC. Tables are priced at $10,000 each. Al Sharpton believes that Russ held on to his money this year to lash out against the reverend’s post-Imus criticism of hip-hop’s “Bitch and Ho” laden lyrics.

“Oh, you only bought tickets if he would agree with us on lyrics?” the Rev said. “You weren’t supporting the civil-rights cause, you weren’t supporting the fight against police brutality? I’ve been against the lyrics all along.”
“My credit with the rev is good,” Russ says.
